OLMS Counseling Curriculum
Guidance Curriculum is for all students and is usually delivered according to grade level. In 2012-13, our Guidance Curriculum initiatives will be:
Intentional Guidance is for targeted groups of students. In 2012-13, our Intentional Guidance initiatives will be delivered to the 7th and 8th grade AVID classes and will complement the AVID initiative of closing the achievement gap, promoting career and college readiness, and nurturing the individual determination of AVID students.
Small Groups are comprised of 10-14 students who would benefit from counselor and peer support in a specific area. Small groups are made up of students from all grade levels. In 2012-13, OLMS will offer the following support groups:
- 6th grade: Middle School Transition focusing on G.P.A. and academic goal-setting
- 7th grade: Learning Styles and introduction to career planning
- 8th grade: Career exploration through ACT Explore and Career Cruising
